Affinity 1 is the first in a new series of three dimensional sculptural works by artist Jeff Robb. The human body, now life size, replicates poses and forms from Robb's previous series Aerial and his 2011 bronze sculpture Suspension. The sculpture is full of contradictions, appearing to float yet have great solidity, at once metallic yet possessing an ethereal lightness; a lightness of being.
'The way the series is perceived is absolutely dependent on where the sculpture is placed and from which angles it is viewed. In this way there are infinite possibilities for how the work can be seen".
Indeed, the work can appear both transparent and opaque at the same time depending on the view point; very similar in nature to the view point dependant three dimensional images Robb is already well known for.
Just published, a 6 page Jeff Robb feature in the November issue of Arte Al Limite magazine, you can see the online version here http://tinyurl.com/mw7t6co
Artists previously featured in and interviewed by the magazine include Ai Weiwei, Marina Abramovic and Anish Kapoor....to mention a few. The magazine is out now and you can order it online or pick it up from most major Art Fairs including Art Basel Miami.
This short film by Dominic Gaskell records the making of the series.
From the 1st to the 8th of December we will be exhibiting at Scope Art Fair, in its new venue - situated on South Beach itself. We will be showing three lightboxed Lenticular photographs by Jeff Robb from his new 'Diluvian' series, along with the very first of his series of mirrored sculptures that compliment the large-scale installation solo at the London Newcastle project space in Shoreditch in June earlier this year. Click here to see the official video of the show.

Here's a very brief video featuring Christian Faur who we are very excited to be working with. We will be showing his work in Houston in just over 2 weeks time.
Faur creates photo-realistic images that are made up of thousands of stacked wax crayons which he hand casts in his studio in Ohio.
